Foods That Are Killing Your Metabolism

Keeping your metabolism in high gear works wonders on the way you feel and keeps you fit and trim. Avoiding foods that slow down your metabolism is just as important as eating foods that rev it up. These foods are classic culprits of a slower-than-desired metabolism.

Fruit juice

Did you know that some fruit juice has more sugar than some sodas? Most fruit juices are stuffed full of sugar, chemicals, food colorings and flavorings.

Canola Oil

Sounds healthy, doesn’t it?
Canola oil is a triumph of marketing over facts. It’s actually rapeseed oil (from the rapeseed plant), but was renamed for obvious reasons. Rapeseed oil is pretty disgusting stuff. In its natural state, it’s an ugly greenish color. It also has a high concentration of erucic acid, which may cause heart damage.

White flour

While white breads and pastas might taste better than whole wheat options, but that's because white flour is processed and stripped away of all the healthy benefits whole grains have to offer.

How To Plant, Grow, and Care For Petunias

Petunia is one of the most impressive and brilliant flowers available in a wide variety of colors. But to enjoy the beauty of the flowers, you need to know some details about how to care for them.
Petunia is a perennial plant, but currently used hybrids are genetically programmed to produce many flowers so they are biologically sparing very quickly.

PLANTING

You can grow petunias from seeds, but it is easier to grow them from transplants. If you are going to grow from seeds, start them indoors 10 to 12 weeks before you want to set them outside. Petunia seeds are very small and needs lots of light in order to germinate. Remember to water them. When the plants have three leaves, you can plant them outside.
It’s best to buy transplants and plant them in light, well-drained soil in full sun after the last spring frost. Petunias can grow in partial shade, but they will have fewer flowers. It’s better if the plants have shelter from the wind.
Space the plants about 1 foot apart.
If you’re planting petunias in containers, use a soil-less mix.

CARE

Petunias are tolerant of heat so you don’t have to water them regularly. A thorough watering once a week should be sufficient (unless there are prolonged periods of drought in your area). The spreading types and those in containers require more frequent watering though.
Fertilize your plants monthly to ensure good growth. Double-flowered cultivars like a biweekly dose of fertilizer.
Remove faded/dead flowers to prolong blooming.

The Duchess of Cambridge was sure not to outshine her sister on Saturday opting for a subtle peach ensemble for Pippa's nuptials to James Matthews.

As well as her pale pink maxi dress from Alexander McQueen Kate could be seen wearing an elegant fascinator from milliner Jane Taylor and £7,500 Kiki McDonough earrings as she and her father Michael Middleton accompanied Pippa into the church.

Things Every Son Needs From his Mom

There are certain things that your growing son needs from his mom, and you are the only one who can provide him with these essential things.

Physical contact

Hugs work even when he gets older. Boys are who they are, and moms need to love them without trying to rewire them.” He needs to know the importance of human contact so he doesn't keep it from his wife or children. To learn the kinds of things that women need –Let him take you out to dinner. Let him know the things that girls like. Let him open doors and hold your hand to show him what a woman expects.

Love

Tell your son how much you love him, and let it be clear. Demonstrate gestures of acceptance. He will in turn reflect that love to you and to others.

Discipline/ Responsibility

He needs to respect that you are a figure of authority. He needs to understand what co-parenting looks like; he’ll do it himself someday. Make him put his own laundry away, take out the trash, and help you do the dishes. Make him earn his way when possible. If you don’t, all housework will forever be known as “woman’s work” and nobody wants a man like that. You want him to be the man who will help his wife take care of their home, take care of the things he has acquired, and know how to work for what he wants.

Limits

Setting limits is important. If a child feels that you cannot control his inappropriate behavior, he will feel like he is stronger than you and will try to manipulate you. On the other hand, if you overwhelm your son with inappropriate limits, he will feel no confidence and have difficulty getting and keeping jobs in the future. Setting appropriate limits will help him succeed.

To Have Fun

Dance in the car, in the living room, in the front yard. He will learn that life has a soundtrack and he needs to learn how to have fun. There is no moment too small to celebrate, and the big ones always call for dancing. Whether it is on the ball field or in the classroom, become his biggest fan and dance about it. The world is full of people just waiting to show him he’s no good. Let him know, that in your eyes, they will always be wrong and be quick to celebrate him and his accomplishments.

Loving Correction

Give him room to make mistakes, and to learn from them. Correcting your son's mistakes firmly but kindly will help him want to do the right thing. Humiliating correction, on the other hand, produces the opposite effect.

Apple Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Apple Cinnamon Rolls. They are kind of like a muffin, kind of like a cupcake, kind of like a mini pie, kind of like a cinnamon roll. But whatever category you put it in, it is definitely super delicious!

IngredientsNutrition

For Apple Filling

~ 2large cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
~ 2tablespoons flour
~ 3⁄4cup sugar
~ 1⁄4cup butter
~ 1teaspoon ground cinnamon
~ 1⁄2teaspoon ground nutmeg

For Rolls

~ 5 -5 1⁄2cups flour, divided
~ 1⁄2cup sugar
~ 2(1/4 ounce) packages quick-rising yeast
~ 1teaspoon salt
~ 1⁄2cup milk
~ 1⁄4cup butter or 1⁄4 cup margarine
~ 3large eggs

For Cinnamon-Sugar topping

~ 3⁄4cup sugar
~ 1teaspoon ground cinnamon
~ 1⁄2teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

~ To prepare apple filling: In medium saucepan, combine apples, flour sugar and butter. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Cook 3 minutes.
~ Reduce heat to medium low and cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly until thick.
~ Stir in cinnamon and nutmeg. Cool completely.
~ While filling cools, prepare dough. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, undissolved yeast and salt. Heat 1/2 cup water with milk and butter until very warm (120-130°F). Gradually add to dry ingredients. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
~ Add eggs and 1 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
~ Knead dough on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, 8-10 minutes. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
~ Divide dough into 2 equal parts. Roll each part into a 12x8 inch rectangle. Spread cooled apple filling evenly over dough. Beginning at long end of each rectangle, roll up dough as tightly as you would for a jelly roll. Pinch seams to seal.
~ Cut each roll into 12 equal pieces. Place, cut sides up, in two greased 9 inch round pans. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
~ While dough is rising, prepare cinnamon-sugar topping. Stir together sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well blended.
~ After dough has doubled in size, sprinkle rolls with cinnamon-sugar topping.
~ Bake in 375°F oven for 25-30 minutes or until done, Remove from pan, serve warm.
